UNCERTAIN ENDINGS:
Exhibition

Presented by as part of Melbourne Fashion Week 2025

22.10.25 — 25.10.25
Dark Horse Experiment

Designers often begin with clear intentions, creating, duplicating and finally selling familiar products in neat sets on well-ordered racks. Yet this apparently tidy end point, the point-of-sale, does not necessarily capture the complex and messy way textiles move through the world. As the fashion industry struggles to maintain an old order amid a devolving global system, how can we find new and alternative methods for navigating these spaces, designing outcomes within this uncertainty? Uncertain Endings explores a shift in focus from producing tidy products, to designing processes for shaping disorder, where the final design may only emerge through the doing.

Future Archive & Jannah Quill

Presented by City of Melbourne Library as part of Melbourne Fashion Festival 2025

Thursday 27 February, 2025

This workshop, presented by Future Archive and Jannah Quill, will provide attendees the opportunity to explore experimental approaches to re-appropriating materials through utilising (and learning) the basics of sewing and soldering.

Future Archive will guide participants to reuse textile waste and learn how to make their own upcycled pocket.

With Jannah Quill, participants will learn the foundational skills of wire stripping and soldering electronics through the process of creating their own DIY solar panel instrument which can later be housed in the upcycled Future Archive pocket.

Pocket Politics

Presented as part of Melbourne Design Week 2022

Sunday 27 March, 2022

As a group we came together to explore our pockets and the idea of pocket satisfaction. Participants were invited to bring along an example of a problematic pocket from their wardrobe for discussion and design an ‘intervention’.

Together we explored whether there is a universal ideal pocket to offer 100% pocket satisfaction, or if pocket satisfaction is in fact subjective.
